Going through my Christmas card list last year and crossing out the names of those no longer commercially with us, is a salutary lesson as to the severity of the financial crisis we have lived through and its impact on the development industry.
Hopefully the corner has now been turned and the markets will start to move again. The pleasant surprise for Ealing over the last twelve months being how resilient our local economy has proved and how attractive the borough remains to investors and occupiers. Quality and location clearly counting for everything in a recession.
Despite some small hitches, like the incongruous decision of a planning inspector on the Arcadia scheme, I believe we are actually in better shape than ever to continue the transformation of our borough and the creation of lasting economic growth and I look forward to working with both current and new investors this year and in the future.
Wishing you a Happy New Year.
