Two of Ealing’s busiest town centres, Acton and Greenford, will share £628,000 from the Mayor’s Outer London Fund (OLF) to help make them even more attractive to shoppers and businesses.
£500,000 will be invested in Acton to extend pavements and create inset parking bays, making it easier to shop. There will also be extra bike parking and cycle lanes and improvements to traffic flow.
Greenford town centre has already seen significant investment and environmental improvements through the Good For Greenford regeneration scheme. Here, proposals for the £128,000 received from the OLF include a new street market to offer shoppers more choice and a range of community events.
In addition, traders in both town centres will continue to receive expert help in visual merchandising.
Council Leader Julian Bell said: “This is great news for both Greenford and Acton. Both of these areas have seen or are seeing significant improvements and this extra cash boost will be the icing on the cake. It’s not just important for businesses, but for jobs as well.”
