Subject to approval, a six-week public consultation will soon take place on plans for redeveloping Acton Town Hall and surrounding sites.
The proposed revamp could provide new swimming pools, a library, leisure facilities, community spaces and council offices.
A report will be presented to the council’s Cabinet in January seeking approval for consultation on a Supplementary Planning Document (SPD), with the aim of asking the public for their views on it later in January and throughout February.
The SPD would shape the regeneration scheme by setting out the council’s planning requirements and also a list of guidelines that any prospective developer would need to follow.
If the SPD is adopted, more detailed consultation would then take place on designs for the scheme, along with the start of a tendering process for companies hoping to carry out the work. It is scheduled for work to start on the site in 2012.
