Opportunity site - Old Acton Library

Ealing Council has instructed HRH Retail to market the former Acton Library in west London for a range of commercial uses, including retail, leisure and medical.

The former library is an attractive Grade II listed building in a prominent location in Acton High Street. Mostly arranged over two floors, the property totals around 8,500 sq ft of modern space behind a listed façade.

Located on the junction of High Street and Winchester Street, it sits opposite the former Acton Town Hall (now converted to housing) and close to Acton Central Station, from where Crossrail services will run next year.

Lucy Taylor, director of regeneration & planning at Ealing BCouncil, says: “We are inviting offers for this key site in Acton town centre. It gives partners an opportunity to provide creative solutions for an historic building and bring new, exciting uses that will further contribute to the regeneration of the area.

“Acton will benefit from Crossrail, connecting local people and businesses with jobs and opportunities right across London, and this site – one of many high-quality regeneration initiatives in the borough - will be able to capitalise on that growth.”

Tim Hance of HRH Retail says the attractive interior of Acton Library could accommodate a range of different uses (subject to planning) including retail, restaurants, cafés, leisure such as a gym or cinema and community facilities.

He adds: “This is a rare opportunity to take space in one of west London’s trophy buildings in an area that is experiencing a high level of development activity. We have already attracted a lot of interest from across the spectrum and believe the building’s exceptional location and layout would suit many different uses, especially community-focused occupiers.”

A new lease of the whole building is available for a term and rent to be agreed by negotiation. Consideration will also be given to letting the ground and upper floors separately.
