Get set for a summer of festival fun

Walpole Park in Ealing will be the setting for this year’s 33th Ealing Summer festival which kicks off with five nights of laugh out loud comedy featuring among others Alan Carr, Omid Djalili, Jo Caufield and Ed Byrne.

Music lovers are in for a treat at the perennially popular Jazz and Blues festivals over the next two weekends in July in Walpole Park.

In August, Southall park will be the backdrop for the London Mela, a celebration for everyone that takes its inspiration from the best of south Asian culture and music. The night will end with a spectacular firework show.

The summer festivals began life in 1985 with the founding of the Ealing Blues Festival by Bob Salmons. What began life as he says as "little more than a picnic in the park" has become an Ealing cornerstone event drawing in thousands of people from across the borough and further afield.

Along side other music events such as the Hanwell Hootie, the festivals demonstrate how culture has long been at the heart of Ealing.
