Ealing Council at the CIH Conference

Ealing Council’s housing team attended the Charted Institute of Housing’s conference in Manchester from the 25 to 27 June. The team was led by Mark Wiltshire, Director of safer communities and housing, and Alan Baldwin, Interim director of housing development.

Ealing Council has a commitment to build 2,500 genuinely affordable homes by 2022. To achieve this the authority is working with a range of development partners on its estates and on private-led regeneration schemes to deliver the target. Many of these will be delivered through the council's wholly owned housing company Broadway Living.

The Mayor of London, Sadiq Khan, recognised the progress made in building affordable homes when he visited Copley Hanwell W7 estate, Ealing, in the new year, where 31 new homes are available at affordable rents.

In another scheme, the council has pioneered an innovative alternative to traditional bed and breakfast accommodation, by using modular units to create 108 self-contained, secure new homes on three sites.
